What Is an
MS Angle?

A mild steel angle, also written as MS angle or L-section, is a hot-rolled structural steel section with two legs meeting at a 90-degree angle. When both legs are equal in length — such as 50×50 or 75×75 — it is classified as an equal angle. When the legs differ — such as 75×50 — it is an unequal angle. This page covers equal angles, which account for the majority of fabrication demand across Central India.

MS angles are manufactured from mild carbon steel billets rolled at high temperature, which gives them consistent grain structure, good weldability, and reliable dimensional tolerance. Sourced from integrated steel plants like SAIL and RINL, primary-grade angles carry full mill traceability and conform to IS:2062 Grade A structural steel specification.

Because of their L-shaped cross-section, angles offer excellent strength-to-weight ratio when used as chord members in trusses, bracing elements in towers, or support framing in sheds and mezzanines. They are easy to drill, cut, punch, and weld at site, making them the most versatile structural section in general fabrication.

Why Fabricators in Central India Buy from Us

Not just supply. Controlled sourcing, checked loading, and practical support for working buyers.

📏
Straightness Checked
Bent and twisted angles slow cutting, fitting, and welding. We visually inspect bundles before dispatch so fabrication losses don't become your site problem.
⚖️
Correct Weight Supply
Under-weight angles quietly destroy project value. We weigh what we sell and keep dispatch aligned with actual material weight, not just printed tags.
📋
Mill TC Available
For SAIL and RINL material, test certificates with source traceability are available for projects that need quality documentation and audit support.
✂️
Standard & Cut Lengths
We support both stock lengths and project-based cut requirements where quantity justifies processing — useful for tower panels, trusses, and repetitive fabrication jobs.
🏭
Single Vendor Advantage
Need angles, channels, beams, TMT, and pipes together? We consolidate supply on one bill and one dispatch plan, reducing coordination friction.
🔍
Source Transparency
For commercial grade supply, we disclose source details on request — helping buyers avoid scrap-based, light-weight, inconsistent secondary material.

FAQ — From Fabricators

What is the difference between equal and unequal angles?
Equal angles have both legs the same size — for example 50×50 or 75×75. Unequal angles have legs of different lengths, such as 75×50 or 45×30. This page covers equal angle sections, which represent the majority of fabrication demand for trusses, towers, sheds, and frames.
What does IS:2062 Grade A mean for MS Angles?
IS:2062 is the Indian Standard for hot-rolled low, medium, and high tensile structural steel. Grade A specifies a minimum yield stress of 250 N/mm², ultimate tensile strength of 410 N/mm², and minimum elongation of 23%. Carbon is limited to 0.23%, sulphur and phosphorus to 0.05% each, keeping the steel weldable and ductile for structural fabrication.
Do you bill by weight or by piece?
We bill by actual weight. For fabrication buyers this matters significantly — under-weight material is one of the most common and costliest issues in the angle market. Our dispatch is weighed and the bill reflects actual material delivered.
Is MS Angle easy to weld, drill, and cut?
Yes. MS Angles conforming to IS:2062 have a low carbon equivalent (0.42 max.), which makes them readily weldable with standard arc and MIG processes. They are drillable and punchable in standard shop equipment, and can be cold-bent or flame-cut without special precautions. This versatility is why they are the default choice for trusses, sheds, towers, gates, and support structures.
Do you provide mill test certificates (TC)?
Yes — for SAIL and RINL / Vizag primary material. Mill test certificates confirm heat number, chemical composition, and mechanical test results. If your project requires branded source compliance, mention this at enquiry stage so we align the supply accordingly from the start.
What lengths do you stock?
Standard supply is in 6 metre and 12 metre lengths, depending on section size and source availability. Custom cutting can be discussed for bulk orders — particularly useful for tower panels, repetitive truss members, and pre-cut fabrication jobs.
Can you supply both primary and commercial grade?
Yes. We handle primary branded material (SAIL, RINL) where specification and audit trails matter, and commercial grade from reputed secondary mills for cost-sensitive projects where dimensional consistency matters but a TC is not mandatory. The right choice depends on your project requirement, drawing specification, and budget.
What is the standard tolerance on MS Angle leg length and weight?
Per IS:1852: leg length tolerance is ±1.5mm for sections up to 45mm, ±2.0mm for 45–100mm, and ±2% above 100mm. Sectional weight tolerance is ±5% for 3mm thickness and +5%/−3% for thicker sections. Fixed-length supply carries a +100mm tolerance. Straightness is controlled to 1mm per metre.
